BSc., University of Illinois, 2016
I grew up in Wheaton, Illinois and studied biochemistry at the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana. After working in Dr. Huimin Zhao’s laboratory discovering natural products from cryptic fungal gene clusters, I joined Dr. Martin Burke’s research group. In the Burke group, I synthesized a library of MIDA ligand derivatives to improve the scope of the iterative cross coupling platform. In my free time, I enjoy traveling, practicing my saxophone, playing tennis, running, and eating chocolate.
- In 2015, I marched in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade with the University of Illinois Marching Illini.
- I won a hula-hooping contest my senior year of high school during Homecoming week.
- After graduating from UIUC, I went on a solo backpacking trip through Europe for five weeks.
