Dr. Tim Markovic
M.Sc., Leibniz Universität Hannover, 2014
Ph.D., University of Oxford, 2018
Tim was born and raised in Hannover, Germany, where he also studied chemistry at the Leibniz University. During his master studies he spent 9 months at Stanford University working with Prof. Barry M. Trost on asymmetric ruthenium-catalyzed cycloisomerizations. He continued his doctoral research at the University of Oxford in the laboratories of Prof. Michael C. Willis focusing on the development of desulfinylative cross-coupling reactions of aromatic heterocycles. In summer 2018, Tim joined the MacMillan group as a postdoctoral research associate. Outside of the lab, he enjoys reading, traveling and playing football (soccer).
- Tim is huge a Star Wars fan and has read almost every book and comic.
- A chemical reagent is named after him, which is called TIMSO.
- Apparently Tim is too german to think of a third fun fact.
