Dr. Aaron Trowbridge
M. Sc., Imperial College London, 2014
Ph.D., University of Cambridge, 2018
Aaron grew up in the seaside town of Bournemouth, England, before moving to London for his undergraduate degree and completing his Master’s project with Prof. Alan Spivey developing new chiral organocatalysts. From there, Aaron joined the group of Prof. Matthew Gaunt and spent his first two years in amine-directed C-H activation and the latter in photoredox catalysis. Aaron completed his Ph. D. in 2018, and decided to join the MacMillan group at Princeton University as a postdoctoral research associate. Outside of the lab, Aaron enjoys playing any sport where you can also drink (i.e. snooker, darts), cooking and binging on boxsets (most definitely while drinking).
- Aaron has a cat called “Keith with four teeth” (he is not very well and lost most of his teeth).
- Aaron loves 80’s music, for which he has received considerable ridicule at all point of his chemistry life.
- Aaron supports both Bournemouth (home) and Liverpool football clubs back in the UK, again receiving a modest amount of derision.
